Light out of Darkness
This is the only podcast or basically the only place where we can truly speak freely and listen to liked minded people. Sean has a true gift and a perfected craft. I have gotten more out of this than any therapy. Truly grateful for you Sean and thank you again for having me on. PLEASE spread this podcast everyone who r...

Very well done podcast.
I’ve listened to almost every episode and it’s always interesting to see how different people deal with a difficult subject. Sean does an excellent job with all his guests.
Thoughtful, Insightful, Informative
Sean manages to take a taboo subject (attempting suicide) and have conversations that are frank, honest, and shows time and again that “suicide attempt survivors” (his words) are normal people. Not just normal, but that we are everywhere and for the most part, you would never know. We are your children, your parents, p...

Thank you Sean for your honesty
I lost my partner, fiance, love of my life, and best friend to suicide on 9/28/2021. Keith never spoke to me about this subject. He had not made any other attempts in the 14 years we were together. He did suffer from depression and possibly bipolar. Hearing these honest conversations with attempt survivors has helpe...

Kynedi Muro this is my story Rogers, AR
Hi my name is Kynedi. On June 10, 2023 I almost completely died. I hated being me. I still do. But I’m trying to get better. I’m 15 years old. I tried committing 29 times. On the 29th time which was on that date. I almost succeeded. I had nothing to eat. And I had lived in Searcy, Arkansas before and while I was there ...

Unique
An extraordinary, beautiful, humane podcast. An amazing achievement by the host and his guests.
Thank you
Thank you. This is helpful for people who love someone who has attempted as well. You are doing good and necessary work.
Amazing Podcast
This is a wonderful podcast that allows people to talk openly and without judgement. Sean is smart, kind, and most importantly, empathetic. Even though I have never attempted, this is probably the first time in my life I’ve ever really heard people talk about suicide in a way that I can relate to. It’s a gift.

This podcast keeps me around
What if…
What if.. Suicide might spare your loved ones a decade of watching you die—as in you have a terminal diagnosis? Might that not be a gift? This is a beautiful strange podcast. The music is beautiful. The host is so kind.

Thankyou 🙏
Suicide Notes is Essential
Sean gives each guest & each listener a rock he’s found on the beach, special just for them. It’s perfectly smooth, worn by time, by the constant ebb & flow of the tide taking its edges as it is rolled on the sandy bottom of Lake Superior, or maybe the Pacific (because “Pacific” means “Peace”-look it up). To his guest...

Important podcast & I’m glad it’s here — everyone can benefit
Everyone who is interested in life and how we can make it better for each other can be enriched by this podcast. I’ve listened to over 90 of the episodes so far. I’m a big admirer of what Sean and all the contributors are sharing. You don’t have to have a personal connection to suicide to learn the lessons here. Ev...

Ideation is my brain’s go to when I’m overwhelmed. I have learned helpful techniques to keep the wolves at bay such as music, meditation and exercise. Suicide Noted does not make the ideation go away per se. In fact it can be a little triggering. But it does make me feel less alone. When I feel less alone I am more acc...

I’m not alone ?
As a suicide attempt survivor, my wife found this podcast for me to listen to. It’s great to hear others moments in life. I have been working up the courage to send the email to Shawn to be on the show. You would think listening to this would hurt mental health but it does the opposite
I really am not alone…
No one wants to talk about this topic, mainly because no one wants to listen. This is a wonderful platform where people can share their stories, what lead to their situation, thought processes, experiences, all the taboos and misnomers about suicide. I don’t click with every interviewee, but some I do. Like David fr...

Hearing my story reframed in so many ways reminds me that I am not alone. Thank you for sharing, to all who have. If you’re not like me, if you’ve never attempted, I strongly believe that you more than anyone should listen to these stories.
Thanks a lot!
I have been going through a lot in life, same with many.. though my GF has been fighting so much harder then I could have and still is. I keep coming back to these episodes even if I’ve had a “stretch “ of not feeling depressed, usually no more than 2 weeks. I don’t have a support system. Listening to others talk about this, when you can’t really do this in every day society is quite helpful. Thank you, Sean, for doing this and having this platform.
Excellent in every way
Sean is a great interviewer. He lets the guest tell their story without interrupting. I’ve learned so much from this podcast. It’s a taboo subject and Sean is courageous. As are the guest. My next stop will be Patreon. It’s important to encourage this kind of information. It’s life-saving.
Love it!
I just finished episode 21 and I am so grateful for that guests advice! I was skeptical about this podcast at first but I was definitely hooked by the end of episode 2!
